Sobell Leisure Centre is a fantastic leisure centre based in Islington featuring a gym, studios, gymnastics hall, outdoor football pitches, sauna, steam room and squash courts, as well as a soft play area designed for babies, toddlers and young children.
Our previous project with Sobell was a multi-levelled soft play area, replacing an old ice-skating area, which had been flood damaged, out of action and unutilised for two years.
Always keen to maximise space, GLL were keen to convert another area of the centre – a sports hall that had also been damaged during the flood, and provide something that catered for older children.
We got busy, designing something to maximise the use of the space, and provide hours of entertainment for children growing out of soft play.
Following design approval, we got busy constructing a massive Strike Arena – an active game that uses intuitive technology to add a competitive element to play –, an interactive sports court, trampolines and inflatable area.
Once complete, Sobell had an offering for every possible age groups, strengthening their value to the community and helping more and more people to get and stay active.
Since opening the area a few weeks ago, GLL Sobell have enjoyed significant growth in visitor numbers, positive feedback and increased customer satisfaction; helping them achieve exactly what they set out to.
